CRM On Demand Jumps to Leaders Quadrant in Gartner 2009 SFA Report
The report also confirms what we have been seeing in the CRM software market.
- Companies are continuing to invest in sales force automation projects in an effort to optimize sales effectiveness in the wake of weakened sales from the global economic recession.
- Software as a service offerings (SaaS), like Oracle CRM On Demand, are garnering more consideration because of limited capital spending and the ability to account for the software as an operating expense
- The KISS principle (Keep it Simple) is still the best practice approach for implementing CRM Software

Survey Says: Cloudy 2009 ahead but CRM Sales Software May Shed Light
According to the 2009 Sales Performance Optimization Survey of 1800 sales managers by CSO Insights, a sales consultancy based in both Boulder, Colo., and San Francisco, 71% of respondents reporting that they have formally implemented CRM sales software. Of those who have yet to implement CRM, 40% say they plan to do so in 2009 (as reported in a recent SearchCRM.com article).
Here are some other interesting results:
Less than 37% of firms are leveraging mobile device access to CRM data, although those that do are more satisfied with their CRM vendor.
SaaS CRM customers are more loyal. 72% of SaaS application users say they are loyal advocates for the CRM provider, compared with just 38% of sales organizations that have on-premise CRM.
15% of respondents said they are currently using sales analytics, and another 13% plan to use it in 2009, which apparently has a significant impact on win rates.
Those using sales analytics report win rates of 51%, compared with 47% for those who are not. Similarly, loss rates are 27% for those who use analytics and 31% for those who do not.
61% of reps with CRM tools installed make their quota, versus 58% that do not.

Oracle OpenWorld 2008 CRM Highlights
Oracle continued to pave the way on Social CRM innovation this week, when it previewed new Social CRM applications at OpenWorld 2008.
Here are some of the highlights:
- Sales Campaigns Introduced as a product that was designed to be so user friendly that even a sales person can create and analyze the effectiveness of e-mail marketing campaigns, Oracle CRM uses a wide array of social networking opportunities including tagging, ratings and comments. The tool also includes embedded pre-built analytics to monitor and segment email campaign responses.
- Sales Library How many different presentations does your sales staff have, and can anyone find them when they need them? This was the driver behind the Oracle Sales Library product. The Sales Library delivers social networking tools for rating, reviewing and tagging presentations. Oracle Sales Library enables representatives across the organization to quickly and easily leverage sales materials that help sales reps to close business quickly. The resource also saves time because sales people don't have to build sales presentations from scratch.
- Oracle Mobile Sales Assistant and Oracle Mobile Sales Forecast Two new mobile applications for the iPhone will be free to download from the Apple App Store in November 2008. The Sales Assistant and Mobile Sales Forecast allow users to easily access and quickly update contacts, users, accounts, leads, opportunities, the CRM calendar, the task list, the message center and forecasts.
