Computerworld Honors Program Names National Industries for the Blind as a Laureate for 2011
King of Prussia, PA (May 16, 2011)– Business Technology Solutions (BizTech), a leading IT Services firm and Oracle Platinum Partner is proud to announce the recent recognition of National Industries for the Blind (NIB) as a 2011 Laureate in the Computerworld Honors Program. The award program recognizes NIB’s AbilityOne eCommerce Website (www.abilityone.com) which supports the sale of nearly 8,000 products produced by individuals who are blind or disabled.
In 2009, NIB initiated an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) project to support their internal operations to provide a fully accessible web-based eCommerce platform which aligned with the core mission of NIB which is to enhance the opportunities for economic and personal independence of persons who are blind, through creating, sustaining and improving employment.
NIB selected software from Oracle Corporation and chose implementation services from BizTech who led the project which included the implementation of Oracle E-Business Suite R12 (EBS) and Oracle iStore eCommerce applications. BizTech was tasked to ensure the EBS project and eCommerce website met all requirements specified in Section 508C of the Rehabilitation Act of 1998, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, and was subjected to NIB’s internal usability guidelines for people who are blind using assisted technology such as screen readers and zoom text.
BizTech’s project team accomplished the goals set forth by NIB with a highly skilled team of web developers who followed programming methods to build out the full functionality of the customized eCommerce website (www.abilityone.com).

The Computerworld Honors awards will be presented at the Annual Laureates Medal Ceremony & Gala Awards on June 20, 2011 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, DC.
